Problem Description:
I have multiple network cards in my server and I'm getting connection errors (6420, 6609, 6610) when connecting to my server, what should I do?

Solution:

In the majority of situations, Advantage will work with multiple network card setups in servers. In cases where your server is connected to multiple networks and/or has multiple IP addresses or has a special configuration in which communication with Advantage is not occuring properly, it would be wise to first check your routing tables as well as other network configurations that could be hindering communication.

If the problem is still persisting after checking the setup of your network, there is a setting available that will force Advantage to use the network card associated with a specific IP address.

For NetWare:

Add the following line in the Advantage Database Server configuration file (ADS.CFG):
LAN_IP_ADDRESS=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

For Windows NT/2000/2003:
Add the following string value using the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE) into the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SystemCurrent/ControlSetServices/Advantage/Configuration/LAN_IP_ADDRESS=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

For Linux:
Add the following line in the Advantage Database Server configuration file (ads.conf):
LAN_IP_ADDRESS=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
