You cannot launch Prevail because of a continual update loop

What causes the Prevail to continually loop it's updater?

After an update, new files are downloaded to your servers Prevail updates folder - when you launch the prevail application after an update it will attempt to copy the contents of the updates folder locally into your prevail client folder.

If the copy process fails, it will try again. and again.  and again.  Hence the loop.

Things to check:

1. Permissions to the client installation folder (c:prevail)

2. Disk space on the local PC - if it is low then it will fail to copy the files over.

3. Bad settings, if your local prevail path setting is incorrect, it will not copy the files over

4. THE SOURCE FILES MUST NOT BE IN USE - IF THEY ARE THEN IT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COPY THE FILES OVER.   CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT NOBODY IS RUNNING OR ACCESSING PREVAIL EXECUTABLES DIRECTLY FROM THE UPDATES FOLDER

5. The destination files (c: prevail) must not be in use either, check to ensure that the Prevail application (and subsequent Outlooksync, settings application) are all closed down. Check in your windows task manager under processes.

6. Later versions of Prevail (V5 and V6) use the Prevail application short cut properties to identify the destination path where the updates should be copied to.  OPEN UP YOUR PREVAIL DESKTOP SHORTCUT PROPERTIES AND ENSURE THAT THE START-IN FOLDERIS POINTING TO THE LOCATION OF YOUR PREVAIL.EXE FILE.

Finally, the local Prevail path has to be a physical volume, running Prevail from either a UNC or a mapped drive will generate an update loop too.  You cannot run Prevail from serverprevail_clientprevail.exe or from a mapped drive.
