Prevail v9 was originally scheduled to be out at the end of 2019. Production delays have extended that a bit, and our current schedule has Prevail v9 ready for formal release in February, 2020. We want to make sure we are getting everything right, as much has changed “under the hood.” Here is a peek at some of the new features:
Performance– Prevail v8 is pretty snappy, but speed should improve further in Prevail v9, and backend database security will improve.
Enhanced Merge – easier to use merge features, with ability to merge multiple documents at once.
Client Portal* – message, bill, and pass documents with your clients! Your clients can also see their case status.
Atlasware Integration* – for our SSD clients, you will have automated connection to the Social Security Administration: Electronic Records Express (ERE) site, to get case file and status updates. This will be handled automatically for you, once a Prevail Matter has been flagged for automated retrieval. This feature will require an Assure Disability account (the owners of Atlasware), but the fees are minimal and well worth the time-savings. We will help get you set up with them.
* Since these features require continual updating and maintenance, they require an active Annual Support contract to use, as will most new features going forward.
We will only be able to directly convert data from Prevail v8 to Prevail v9. If you are on an older legacy version (earlier than v8), consider upgrading to v8 before the v9 release. If you have an annual support package (premium support using the old lingo) you get both upgrades for free. The only costs incurred may be Advantage Database upgrades and training. If you do not have support, you would have to pay a nominal reinstatement fee plus one year of annual support.
We will be able to convert older legacy versions to v9 for you, but the process may take longer, and there may be some bumps along the way. Also, v8 to v9 upgrades will get priority. Get around this by upgrading to v8 by the end of the year!
By the end of the year, Prevail v9 will be available. In October, we will announce the changes being made. This version, while internally referred to as “v9,” is actually version-less going forward. In future, when we add features or integrations, they will go live to everyone after testing. That means there is no more waiting years to see a new feature. We plan on rolling out 4-6 new features and integrations per year.
There will be some changes to how we price Prevail. Prevail v9 will require an annual support contract to use the new features, and to get any additional features added after initial release. This is necessary because, as we move toward a software-as-a-service model like most of the industry, the integrations cause us to constantly track changes to other code bases and quickly adapt when the partner software changes (so that it keeps working with Prevail).
We expect everyone will be very pleased with v9, which has more additions and enhancements than any previous version. Expect more details in October!
